Fall is one of my favorite seasons, and one of the best parts is tailgate season. Whether we’re cheering from the sofa or grilling in the parking lot before the big game, football weekends are all about the food—and these little bites are perfect for the occasion.

I always have a few go-to tailgate recipes, but I like trying something new each game. Depending on kick-off time and weather, I change the menu. These sweet-and-savory bites were exactly what I wanted this weekend.

I made a batch to snack on and froze extras to bring to the tailgate.

This recipe uses just four main ingredients: Farmland bacon, Farmland smoked sausage, fresh or canned pineapple, and brown sugar.
Farmland’s products—bacon, sausage, specialty-cut ham, and more—are flavorful and made in the USA with quality ingredients. These items are free of added hormones and MSG.

These Aloha Bacon Wrapped Sausage Bites are a crowd-pleasing appetizer that’s both simple to make and delicious to eat.

To prepare, slice the Farmland smoked sausage into bite-sized pieces and cut each bacon slice into thirds. Stand a sausage piece on its side, wrap a bacon strip around the edge, pull it snug, and press the ends around the top and bottom to secure.

Place each wrapped bite on a cookie sheet lined with a Silpat mat or foil.

Sprinkle the tops generously with brown sugar for a caramelized finish.

Top each bite with a piece of fresh or canned pineapple, secure with a toothpick, and give a light final dusting of brown sugar.

Bake in a 400°F oven for 30–40 minutes, or until the bacon is cooked through and caramelized. Serve warm.

To take them to a tailgate, assemble and freeze the bites in a foil pan. Transport them in a cooler and reheat on the grill before serving.
I hope you’ll consider supporting the National FFA Organization by choosing Farmland products when you shop this season. Enjoy these bites at your next game-day gathering!
